Haywood Trout
There is a gravitational pull created by bassist Pat Dolan and singer/guitarist Rob Fowler, who form the nucleus of a small funky galaxy know as Haywood Trout. The two have performed together since 1993, when they each discovered there was someone else out there who wanted to create big ass grooves other than on the couch a la Homer Simpson. Since then, they've brought other players into orbit, finally settling on Jim Earnshaw for the drum seat and Todd Oakes as second guitar. Jump to 2000, and the four have not-so-quietly carved out a local landing pad for the post-grunge generation. While earlier incarnations skimmed the edges of Chili Pepper bass pops and narco-funkadelia, the band has evolved into something more. A little Matthew Sweet and STP are part of the equation, which functions between killer arena monsters like "Glad U Came" and the introspectiveacoustics of "Bad Apples," finding a home with the alt-rocker in everyone. On stage, the sweat flies and the beer flows like it should with any red-blooded pimpin' American males out for a party and hopefully a good take of the door. Next stop: August 4th at the Pontiac. Haywood Trout has some serious momentum, having recently won the first round of the Lucky Strike Band-to-Band Combat series. Second round bouts are scheduled for some time in November, so git out there, for Christ sake! No need to look for deeper meanings in the lyrics or wax poetic about chemistry, just buy beer and scream. The band thanks you in advance for your athletic support. |
