Planet 22 : The Cosmic Funk, Universal Groove and Infinite Fuzz
During the year 1997 in a remote galaxy of the Universe, five musical entities collided to form a new planet. The force of the impact was so great that the planet was propelled out of its orbit, across the universe and into the Milky Way. We call this world "Planet 22," which is characterized by its Cosmic Funk, Universal Groove and Infinite Fuzz.
Planet 22 is a five-piece free-form-funk-folk-fusion jam band based in State College, PA with time-tested local following. Planet 22 is manned by Caleb Gwinn on guitar, Jack Ray on saxophone, Eli Gwinn on keys, Joe Speers on bass and Josh Gwinn on drums. With their hearts in the grass-roots music movement, they have headlined numerous music festivals, bars and benefit concerts for the past five years as well as radio shows including the “State You Face Show” on WKPS 90.7. Members of the band have shared the stage with countless artists including The Disco Biscuits, Dr. Didj, Buckwheat Zydeco, and Jeff Raines and Stanton Moore of Galactic. After years of cultivating their sound and fan base, Planet 22 is planning a short East and West coast tour this summer and then a return to the woodshed for the winter. Plans for a 3 weeks tour in Europe for spring '03 will be followed by another more extensive U.S. tour. On February 22, 2022 Planet 22 will be headlining the Degicank Jamaican Bake Fest at the southernmost degicank. We hope to see you there.
